Deanna Agpoon

Deanna Agpoon

Deanna Agpoon is the founder of Faith Academy and a member of its board of directors. A passionate advocate for education, Deanna is certified as an instructor in the SWR (Spell to Write and Read) phonics program, and is also certified through the Dyslexia Training Institute. She has helped co-host seminars in advanced studies of phonemic awareness, is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, and successfully homeschooled her children for many years. Deanna also volunteers regularly at Pathway Church, His Helping Hands, the Lord’s Diner, and tutors students with learning disabilities. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark, and their five children.

Deanna’s mission to serve and please the Lord was her impetus to start a private Christian school on the west side of Wichita. Frequently, she will be the first point of contact for those who make inquiry into the mission and operation of Faith Academy. You will immediately see Deanna’s passion for equipping young hearts and minds to live for Jesus. She is all in.

Juanita Cowan

Juanita Cowan

Juanita Cowan comes to Faith Academy with a long history of serving her church in a variety of roles. Her experience includes family and children’s ministries, teaching women’s Bible studies, leading small groups, lay leadership, and radio ministry. Her true passion is for teaching this generation of children the meaning and purpose of life, with God being the center of every choice they make. She is grateful for the opportunity Faith Academy presents her to carry out this mission.

A native of Wichita, Juanita is the seventh of thirteen siblings, all of whom grew up in the Apostolic Christian Church. She attended Wichita State University while working nights as a dispatcher for the Wichita Police Department. Juanita and her husband enjoy spending time with their two daughters and seven wonderful grandchildren.

Cherise Eutsler

Cherise Eutsler

Cherise Eutsler has taught a variety of subjects at Faith Academy, including English, literature, social studies, and science, and currently teaches spelling in grades 3-6. Prior to her time at Faith Academy, Cherise spent seven years teaching K-6 special education in Valley Center. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Special Education from Tabor College and a Master’s in Elementary Subject Matter from Emporia State University.

Cherise and her husband, Archie, live in west Wichita with their son, Lucas, where they are active members of First Mennonite Brethren Church. Cherise has been pleased to serve her church family with the young adult leadership team, Kids’ Ministry leadership team, and as Coordinator for the Special Needs Buddy Program. She has made several trips to Mexico to serve at an orphanage, and has also participated in tornado cleanup in Joplin, Missouri and Moore, Oklahoma. In addition to traveling, her favorite pastimes include basketball, volleyball, and scuba diving.

Mikayla Edwards

Mikayla Edwards

Mikayla Edwards has taught preschool at her church for 5 or more years. She has a real heart for children and really enjoys to teach. This year Mikayla is a para for the kindergarten and first grade class.

Outside of school Mikayla likes to play clarinet, sing, and to craft. She is really excited to teach her love of learning to children.

Jasmine Fields

Jasmine Fields

Jasmine Fields brings with her to Faith Academy a personal mission of empowerment through education, coaching, and accountability, honed over her years practicing law in the Wichita area. Jasmine’s legal experience includes work with DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers and with the Kansas DUI Impact Center, where she served as a Victim Advocate. She also has over a decade of advocacy with a variety of organizations, including the NAACP.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Jasmine holds degrees from Missouri Western State University and the UMKC School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in Kansas and the US District Court for the District of Kansas. Organizational memberships include the Kansas Bar Association, the Wichita Bar Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Wichita Urban Professionals. She is also a volunteer with the Midwest Innocence Project. Jasmine enjoys church activities, practicing Krav Maga, and watching football with her family.

Glisy Gilbert

Glisy Gilbert

Glisy Gilbert is the office manager for Faith Academy and one of the first you will meet to greet you with a smile and a warm welcome! Born and raised on the island of the Philippines, she moved to the United States in 2006. Glisy has been married for 12 years to her husband Justin, and they have 2 wonderful children, Gabe in 3rd grade and Gracie in 1st grade. Both children attend Faith Academy and have been students since the first year Faith Academy opened its doors.

Glisy graduated in Secretarial Administration from the University of San Jose Recoletos in the Philippines. She was a stay-at-home mom for 7 years until Faith Academy presented her with a job opportunity, and Glisy and her family have been dedicated to the school since day one.

Kimberlyn Gilchrist

Kimberlyn Gilchrist

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Kimberlyn Gilchrist knew from a young age that she wanted to dedicate her career to serving the community, helping people through hard times, and teaching others to do the same. Kimberlyn is a graduate of Newman University and holds a J. D. from the University of Kansas School of Law. Her legal experience includes work with Douglas County Legal Aid, where she was recognized with the Mary Anne Chambers Service Award, and the practice of civil law at DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers. She is licensed to practice law in Kansas and the US District Court of the District of Kansas, and is a passionate and determined advocate for the less fortunate.

Kimberlyn and her husband, Daniel, love spending time with family, including all of their nieces and nephews. She enjoys playing guitar and piano, writing music, and singing at her church.

Kylie Gilger

Kylie Gilger

Kylie Gilger has been serving Faith Academy since 2015. Currently, she is head of the math department and chaplain for the grammar school, and teaches math for third grade through Algebra 1. Prior to her time at Faith Academy, Kylie taught middle school and high school at Victory Valley Christian Academy in Burrton, Kansas. Kylie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry, concentration Youth, from Tabor College.

Working with kids has always been a passion of Kylie’s. Prior to her time at Faith Academy, she worked as a nanny and a tutor of math and French. She also served as a leader for a youth group in Peabody, Kansas.

Denise Hanson

Denise Hanson

A passionate and experienced teacher, Denise Hanson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University. Her extensive teaching career includes working with gifted sixth-graders at Hadley Middle School and teaching third grade at Enterprise Elementary for more than a decade. In addition, she has taught primary Sunday school since the age of twenty. She is very excited to be part of the Faith Academy family.

Denise is a lifelong Wichitan and an active member of the True Church of the Firstborn, where she enjoys singing in the choir. She also loves traveling all over the United States, working on puzzles—both picture and word—and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Huff

Jennifer Huff

Jennifer Huff has more than twenty years of teaching experience in a wide variety of schools and settings. A graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, Jennifer has substituted in the Denver Public Schools, taught third grade at a private Christian school, and taught fourth and fifth grade at a Montessori magnet school in inner-city St. Louis. In addition, she has homeschooled her three children and served as a leader in her homeschool co-op. She’s taught many different subjects at Faith Academy and loves them all, but her absolute favorite is science!

When not in the classroom, Jennifer enjoys traveling overseas for mission trips, volunteering at her church’s giving center, creating various crafts, and hanging out with her boys. She is looking forward to another great year with Faith Academy students!

Audrey Mershon

Audrey Mershon

Audrey Mershon studied Music Education with Voice at Sante Fe College and the University of Florida. She taught her first music groups at 17, directed her first show at 19 and held a private voice studio for 5 years. Most recently, Audrey taught music at the Classical School of Wichita (K-12), choir and drama at CHFM, is an audition coach and has directed shows with CYT and CHFM. She has been singing and acting in musicals and a variety of vocal groups since high school, having traveled professionally with Jeremiah People.

Audrey and her husband co-founded a performing arts camp in Georgia and Chicago called Kids Live! Audrey delights in igniting and nurturing a passion for music and theater in her students and seeing it written on their faces… “Wow, I did that?!”

Kathy Montgomery

Kathy Montgomery

Kathy Montgomery teaches science for 7th and 8th grades. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. She also graduated with a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Infectious Disease Epidemiology. She worked in Dallas, TX, performing outbreak investigations for a Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response team until her first child was born. In the past four years, she taught junior high science, Pre-Algebra, and first grade at her children’s Christian classical school. She desires to bring the truths of God’s Word into the classroom and to show how the Lord’s creativity is expressed in science.

Life is now busy with three children and a husband in the military chaplaincy. Most of her time is spent with her family, especially in outdoor activities such as soccer, horseback riding, hiking or kayaking.

Jennifer Patterson

Jennifer Patterson

Jennifer Patterson has spent her career serving students in both regular and special education. She has seven years’ experience as a special education paraprofessional and also spent four years at a level six juvenile psychiatric facility. After developing strong bonds with students and faculty as a permanent substitute at Faith Academy, she is thrilled to come on board to teach first grade. She has a passion for serving the Lord through teaching children the values instilled through her own Christian education.

Jennifer is active as the Praise and Worship leader at her church, and is excited for the opportunity to serve in the same role during chapel for Faith Academy’s grammar school. She and her husband, Justin, have been married for more than ten years, and their daughter, Jovie, is a student at Faith Academy. Faith Academy is the answer to many prayers for Jennifer and her family, and she plans to give all her heart and soul to see it grow and succeed for the glory of the Lord.

Michael Sater

Michael Sater

Michael Sater graduated in May 2015 from Wichita State University where he majored in English Literature and Philosophy. He also earned a minor in Latin at WSU. Along with his academic pursuits, Michael is involved in various church activities, plays guitar and keyboard, and enjoys a good game of soccer.

Michael teaches Latin and English at Faith Academy and looks forward to sharing his passion for language and literature with his students.

Tonya Wells

Tonya Wells is thrilled to teach physical education for grades K-6 at Faith Academy. A graduate of Kansas State University, Tonya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and has several years of experience teaching preschool through third grade in both public and private schools. In addition to her teaching experience, Tonya has been in the fitness industry or over seventeen years, eight of which have been in Wichita with her own fitness business. Her personal training clients have ranged in age from seven to ninety-three! She has a true passion for fitness and loves to teach children and families how to care for their bodies as God instructs in the Bible, and to experience the rich rewards of living a healthy lifestyle!

Tonya lives in west Wichita with her husband. She is excited to bring a fun, fit, and faith-filled physical education program to the children of Faith Academy!

Rob Wenzel

Rob Wenzel

Rob Wenzel is a second year teacher at Faith Academy, teaching both history and Bible classes to grades three through seven. He also teaches a shop class helping high school aged students understand basic automotive and household maintenance skills.

Rob is a licensed aircraft mechanic at Textron Aviation with 16 years of experience. He has a degree in Applied Sciences from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He is a proud husband of sixteen years to his wife, Kimberly, as well as the father of two daughters, Molly and Hannah, who both attend Faith Academy.
