Giving Back to Our Soldiers

This Veteran’s Day, we are excited to launch our first annual “Holiday Blessings – Faith Academy Gives Back to Our Soldiers” event!

To honor our veterans, and the brave men and women currently overseas, the staff and students at Faith Academy will be putting together Christmas Stockings filled with holiday gifts to send to our brave soldiers who are not able to have a holiday at home with their family.

Our goal for 2018 is to fill and send 200 stockings overseas. Next year we want to send 300, then 400, and more!

How You Can Help:

We need your help filling the stockings! Please consider donating what you can, whether it is a financial donation to help us purchase stockings and gifts, or any of the following items. All donations can be dropped off at Faith Academy, and need to be received by Monday, November 12 at 1:00 pm.

Food and Drink

Sending food or drinks can be a little trickier. The best things to send are things already prepared, that will enhance the MREs they receive (Meals Ready to Eat) or quick sources of protein. Here are some ideas:

  • Ramen Noodles
  • Seasoning salt
  • Hot sauce
  • Flavoring packets for water
  • Individual packets of condiments
  • Powdered drink mix
  • Energy bars
  • Beef Jerky
  • Instant Mac and Cheese
  • Tea bags
  • Peanut butter
  • Coffee  (Instant or ground)
  • Gatorade – packets

It may not seem that exciting, but lots of soldiers say that toiletries are also great to send. They really appreciate receiving personal care items. Here are some examples:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Shaving lotion
  • Disposable razors
  • Shampoo
  • Mouthwash
  • Baby wipes
  • Lip Balm/gloss
  • Lotion
  • Pain relievers
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Eye drops
  • Foot powder
  • Sunscreen
  • Glass cleaner or lens cleaning cloths (for cleaning sand off their glasses)
  • Axe Body Spray
  • Finger nail clippers
  • Q-Tips
  • First aid kits

Entertainment options are great to send as soldiers have downtime to spend while they are not out on a mission.

  • Letter writing supplies
  • Frisbies/balls – miniature
  • Holiday decorations
  • Board games
  • Cards
  • Journals (Pilot Precise is often requested)
  • Other Items
  • Other items that are frequently requested:
  • Ankle socks, boot socks, and work gloves.
  • AAA batteries
  • Cozy shower towels

Please remember to drop off your donations at Faith Academy by Monday, November 12, at 1:00 pm. Thank you for your help in putting a smile on a soldier’s face this Christmas.
